Whispr is a messaging app that runs in your browser and can be installed on your phone’s home screen. You create your identity on your own device, without providing a phone number or email address.

Whispr can hold encrypted messages for delivery when your contact next opens and unlocks the app. Ordinary undelivered messages expire after seven days, so it is best to check in regularly.
Messages need an internet connection to reach your contact. Delivery is not guaranteed, and Whispr should not be relied on for emergencies.
Whispr’s new address: getwhispr.app
New users can start at getwhispr.app. If you already use Whispr at ninjaqa.net, continue opening that address or the Home Screen app you already installed. Both addresses reach the same Whispr service, and people using either address can communicate.
If someone shares a link that opens a welcome screen at the new address, return to your existing Whispr app and choose Paste AirDrop link. You can also scan their QR code from inside your existing app.
Your browser keeps each address’s saved data separate. The new address cannot automatically see your existing identity, messages, photos or videos. Seeing a welcome screen at the new address does not mean your old data has been deleted.
You do not need to create another identity, reinstall Whispr or move your data. Keep your current installation. Removing its Home Screen icon, clearing website data or replacing it with a new installation can put your saved data at risk.
Keep a current encrypted recovery file and its passphrase safe, and save important media separately. Restoring a recovery file is not a complete transfer: photos, videos and other attachment files are not included. Do not discard the original installation after a restore unless you have separately saved everything you need.
Getting started
- Open Whispr and choose a name and a strong passphrase.
- Download your encrypted recovery file and store it safely.
- Add someone you know using their pairing QR code or link.
On iPhone, open Whispr in Safari and choose Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, use your browser’s Install app or Add to Home screen option. Menu names can vary.
